French Toast With Brie

Brie French Toast with Walnuts and Butterscotch
Porportions
- 5 eggs
- ½cup (125 mL) half & half cream
- 3 tbsp (45 mL) sugar
- 1 tsp (5 mL) ground cinnamon -2 tsp (10 mL) vanilla essence
- 8 slices of Challah (egg bread) sliced thickly
- 2 tbsp (30 mL) butter
- 1 tsp (5 mL) vegetable oil
- ½cup (125 mL) toasted walnuts
- ½cup (125 mL) butterscotch sauce (make it yourself or use store-bought)
- 8 thin slices of Brie cheese
- 2 tbsp (30 mL) icing sugar
- fresh assorted berries for garnish
- Beat eggs, cream and sugar together, add cinnamon and vanilla,
- whisk until well blended.
- Place thinly sliced Brie between two slices of egg loaf, making a sandwich.
- Repeat with remaining bread and cheese.
- Dip sandwiches in egg mixture until nicely coated.
- In a skillet, melt butter and oil over medium-high heat.
- Fry French toast sandwiches until golden brown on both sides.
- Add toasted walnuts to butterscotch sauce and stir.
- To serve, cut French toast in half and pour butterscotch walnut mixture over top.
- Add berries
